In the scheduler on the right hand side of the screen, you'll find the 'Quick Create Job' option. Complete the fields and then drag the job element onto the scheduler (user / day / time) that you are booking the job for.
This ensures that Job Type Template communication that is triggered on Job Creation will trigger as the job has the customer details populated.
A Job that is unassigned can be dragged and dropped to a User, the job will then become assigned to that user and show in their Schedule.
