On and after July 1st, 2025 it will be a requirement to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on all accounts which require a Xero connection. This change brings Formitize in alignment with Xero's multi-factor authentication policy, ensuring our users follow the same secure login process you're used to in Xero within the Formitize platform.
What this means for you
In order to sync Formitize accounting information with Xero, you will be required to set up two-factor authentication for all users on your account. Doing this adds an extra layer of protection, requiring users to enter in a code sent to one of their devices (typically their phone) during the login process. Users may use either their mobile phone number or their email to receive the code. After the cutoff date, data will no longer be synchronized with Xero.
How to setup 2FA
Setting up 2FA is straightforward, but requires you to be an Administrator on the account. If that's you, head over to Settings -> Security -> 2FA Options in the Formitize Web Portal. From there, you'll be able to enable 2FA on your account.
You may be prompted to enter in missing phone numbers or email addresses for some users on your account in order to enable 2FA. This is to ensure that all users can receive their login code and continue to log in uninterrupted.
Users may also update their own details by updating their phone and email address on the My Profile page of the Formitize Web Portal.
